RADI Holds 2015 Annual Academic Conference

RADI 2015 Academic Conference was held on December 9, attended by over 300 participants with a main venue and a video conference venue. The meeting aimed mainly at building a platform for RADI’s scientists, engineers, staff members and graduate students to have academic discussions, and showcasing the latest achievements that RADI made in basic remote sensing theories, cutting edge technologies in Earth observation and Digital Earth, and relevant applications.

CAS Academician SUN Jiadong was invited to deliver a speech titled “Internet + Spatial Information Application”. He said, "Internet + spatial information” is an innovative way for the space-earth integrated application. The combination of spatial information with Internet+ strategy will give full play to spatial information for civil use, therefore better serve the national and social demands as well as people’s livelihood.

CAS Academician ZHOU Chenghu gave an invited speech titled “Myths in Remote Sensing Application”. He analyzed current remote sensing applications at home and abroad, and gave advices from in terms of the building of large scientific facilities, cutting-edge technologies, remote sensing data platform, comprehensive application of remote sensing and social services, etc.

Director of Baidu Map SHAO Yongqiang gave a brief introduction to Baidu Map, and elaborated on its users, database, and technological advantages.

Prof. SHI Jiancheng and ZHANG Bing from RADI also gave speeches respectively under the titles of “A Study of Full-band Remote Sensing Mechanism Platform and Snow Cover” and “Theoretical Exploration and Application Prospect of Remote Sensing Big Data”.

The annual conference also included sessions of themed presentations and viewpoint presentations. Viewpoint presentations were mainly given by the graduate students and young research fellows under the age of 35 with an aim to give them opportunities to show their capabilities and research achievements.
