At the 2015 Investment in Hainan Promotion Event held in Beijing on August 7, RADI signed a cooperation agreement with Hainan government departments on jointly building a Gaofen satellite remote sensing big data cloud service platform in Hainan and a remote sensing information industry park in Sanya.

According to the agreement, the cloud service platform will be built to promote commercialization of remote sensing big data obtained from the China’s Gaofen satellites in Hainan and RADI will also provide high-calibre professionals to boost local development in the spatial information field. Meanwhile, RADI and its companies will, based on the construction of Sanya Remote Sensing Satellite Ground Station, scientifically plan the construction of the industry park, actively introduce Chinese and foreign companies and organizations, and help build the remote sensing information innovation base and start-up space. Hainan Provincial Science and Technology Department will fully support Sanya Remote Sensing Industry Park in growing into the “Silicon Valley” of remote sensing in China and even in the world.

Based on the Sanya Remote Sensing Satellite Ground Station and the Key Laboratory of Earth Observation Hainan Province, RADI Director-General GUO Huadong said that RADI would give full play to its strengths in spatial remote sensing big data research and application, contributing to the integration of science and education and the cultivation of talents in Hainan and serve the national strategies of the South China Sea and the Maritime Silk Road.
