Prof. SHI Jiancheng from the State Key Laboratory of Remote Sensing Science has been elected as a member to the executive committee of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (IEEE GRSS). He will be committed to promoting the application of the geoscience and remote sensing technology across the world. Much of the focus of his work will be the development of this technology in the Asia-Pacific region (Region 10).
With the rapid progress of the satellite remote sensing and Earth observation technology, the IEEE GRSS, established in 1962, has ascended into one of the IEEE’s fasting growing and most active academic groups. It has developed into an integrated academic community engaged in such fields as geoscience, space science, electronics, information science, computer science, image processing and artificial intelligence. As the leadership organ of the IEEE GRSS, the executive committee is entitled to decide and manage the organization's businesses including international academic conferences, academic journals, performance assessment and incentive, and internal activities as well as the operations of its branches all over the world.
