On the morning of October 30, 2014, an eight-person delegation from the Planning Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China visited RADI and had discussions with its researchers.
The delegation firstly paid a visit to the Scientific Achievements Exhibition Hall at the New Technology Campus of RADI where they watched the Digital Earth platform demonstration system and the remote sensing satellite operation and management system. Then they visited the workplaces of RADI-based international organizations.
In addition, the two sides held discussions. RADI Deputy Director Prof. LIU Jianbo firstly welcomed the delegation. Then the two sides had discussions about such topics as city planning and land utilization, satellite positioning and data services, UAV photography, 3D modelling, and development of smart cities. They agreed that remote sensing technology could be used to efficiently solve the problems arising from the city planning and development process. Thus they will further strengthen the application of such technology in city planning with joint efforts.
