Seminar Held for Reviewing Sino-Italian Project

From December 15 to 23, Simone Pascucci from the Institute of Methodologies for Environmental Analysis, National Research Council of Italy (CNR-IMAA) and Giovanni Laneve from the Sapienza University of Rome visited RADI for Sino-Italian project: “Development of analysis and assimilation techniques of new advanced Earth observation satellite data into crop models: the case study of cereal crops in Italy and China”. The Chinese leader of this project is Prof. HUANG Wenjiang, vice director of the Key Laboratory of Digital Earth Science. Annual review and collaboration seminar were performed between the two sides.

The two sides exchanged annual progress in detail and discussed future plans. During the meeting, the Italian partners delivered their reports to review research achievements of this Sino-Italian project and introduced former research of their organizations. Chinese partners HUANG Wenjiang, XIE Qiaoyun and YE Huichun made annual progress and academic reports respectively and exchanged views with their counterparts. The expected annual achievements of the project had been acquired, in terms of successful field campaign, model establishment, paper writing. Focusing on 2015 plan, they made clear arrangement on the conducting field campaign in Italy, getting Earth observation satellite data and ground data, co-author paper writing and publishing, visiting plan and so on.

This seminar provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange ideas and laid a solid foundation for follow-up work of this project. Both parties said that they would actively promote the project and enhancing data sharing, personnel visiting and research achievements sharing.

During the visit, they toured RADI’s Digital Earth 3D demonstration Hall, workspace of the international organizations and the center for satellite ground system operation.
